Job Description Job Description Hiring for a Youth Programs
Advocate in Lowell, MA. Pay: $24/hr Schedule: 4 days/week, Monday -
Thursday, 9am-5pm. After 90 day training period, option to work
from home one day a week on Tuesday or Thursday. Some weekend
availability - 24/7 crisis center people will be occasionally on
call, occasionally have weekend retreats and occasionally have
weeknight events. There is no set in stone schedule for these
occurrences. Experience/Skills: • Bachelor’s Degree in related
field or equivalent work experience (e.g., social work, sociology,
psychology, community organizing) required • Cultural Relevant
practice and skills working with BIPOC communities - preference for
someone who has experience working with LGBTQ youth. But open to
seeing profiles who have experience with youth of color, refugees
and immigrants, youth and young adults, people with disabilities. •
1-3 years’ experience working with youth and/or adults who work
with youth - Occasionally traveling to local community
organizations for partner events ( in the greater Lowell area) to
promote services in addition to going to company retreats. • Open
to counselor and advocate profiles who have experience working with
youth with addiction, substance abuse, mental health, behavioral
health, domestic abuse and sexual abuse matters. • Previous youth
organizing experience in training, outreach, and mentorship •
Experience working at a youth serving organization or in a
prevention program • Experience working with and/or developing and
implementing curricula, culturally relevant programs and services
for historically underserved populations (e.g., youth of color,
LGBTQ, refugees and immigrants, youth and young adults, people with
disabilities, etc.) •Excellent presentations skill and
communication skills both verbal/written Vision: 1. Work with
prevention team to develop and run youth programs 2. Build
intentional relationships with youth to create an inclusive brave
space to educate and reduce sexual violence 3. Develop curriculum
to inspire underserved populations and encourage their leadership
4. Create and develop opportunities for youth leadership in the
Greater Lowell community Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include: •Conduct outreach to recruit youth for youth programs
•Facilitate GLADLY (LGBQ/T youth group), Youth Leadership Corps
(YLC) and other youth prevention programming •Provide 1:1
trauma-informed counseling •Conduct outreach, build relationships,
and grow our network of middle schools, high schools, and youth
serving organizations in the Greater Lowell area •Implement
education training to youth serving providers on sexual violence
and social justice •Provide psychoeducation and advocacy with and
for youth, survivors, predominantly youth of color, refugee and
immigrants, and LGBQ/T communities •Work to develop culturally
relevant curricula and programming for participants and communities
we serve •Collaborate and work with Survivor Services team around
creative intervention for youth survivors •Conduct needs
assessments and evaluations for youth programming development and
implementation •Participate in providing on-call and back-up
coverage for 24-hour hotline, medical advocacy response, and
web-chat services •Once trained support internal RCC training
•Other related duties as determined by direct supervisor zip
