Job overview/Department descriptionThe Genomic Medicine Unit
(GMU) CMC group at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of
best-in-class manufacturing platforms to support development of
life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products. We seek a
highly motivated candidate to join Cell Line Development (CLD), as
part of a team focused on cell line generation activities for
Sanofi's Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) pipeline.The person in this
role will be leading CLD lab activities and work in a
high-performing, fast-paced collaborative environment, ensure
project goals and timelines are met by delivering producer cell
lines expressing viral vectors for gene therapy, and support
multiple efforts to optimize our future producer cell line viral
vector platform. Work will directly support development projects
within Sanofi's pipeline.The position also provides the opportunity
to work on cross-functional teams, contribute to operational
excellence and other transversal initiatives, and have a direct
impact on shaping our future cell line expression platforms. The
GMU CLD group is currently operational in Framingham, MA and will
relocate to the newly designed lab space in Waltham, MA in the
second half of 2022.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical oversight of
end-to-end producer cell line development work packages to meet
deliverables for preclinical and clinical development projects,
including reports and presentations to stakeholdersManage
scientists performing AAV producer cell line development and
technology development activitiesPrepare and review documentation
for regulatory submissionsRepresent the CLD function on project
teams and within GMU CMC, making decisions for cell line activities
and effectively communicating results, progress and plansDrive
innovation strategies for generating cell lines and improving AAV
viral vector production, to ensure "right first time" delivery of
commercial-ready cell linesConceptualization, design, execution and
analysis of studies to optimize cell line generation process
towards development of an automation-enabled high-throughput
NextGen producer cell line platformCompliance with all applicable
regulations, ensure that work performed is conducted in a safe and
compliant manner, ensure maintenance of proper records in
accordance with SOPs and policiesBasic QualificationsPhD in
Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or related discipline with a
minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with a
minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with
a minimum of 10 years of relevant experienceHands-on experience in
mammalian cell line development in a pharmaceutical or
biotechnology settingStrong technical background and experience in
viral vector production, preferably recombinant AAV vectorsAt least
2 years of people management experienceStrong molecular biology
background, preferably with insights into AAV biologySelf-motivated
with excellent communication, organization, time-management
skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative
environment and adhere to timelinesPreferred
QualificationsSuspension mammalian cell culture experience in a
pharmaceutical or biotechnology settingExperience with automation
and/or high throughput technologies as applied to mammalian cell
line generation and process optimization is highly
preferredExperience in mammalian gene expression systems, gene
editing and/or 'omics technologiesFlexibility and a willingness to
expand skill set and responsibilities in a past-faced team
