Job Description:
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:The Health Safety Environment group (HSE)
is responsible for implementing programs and policies that comply
with all local, state, and federal HSE rules and regulations and
continuously strive to reduce the incidence and severity of
occupational injury and illness. The HSE department promotes a safe
and environmentally friendly work environment through the
integration of value-added HSE programs, policies, and
services.POSITION OVERVIEW/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The HSE
Professional is responsible for interfacing with all levels of the
organization to ensure necessary and sustainable HSE systems,
programs, procedures, training, work practices, and controls are
developed and implemented to maintain compliance with applicable
HSE regulations and address identified risks.Key Functions:Assist
with implementing and maintaining health and safety (H&S)
policies and procedures to achieve compliance with laws,
regulations and company standards and improve H&S
performance.Keep current on and evaluate the impacts of new and
changing H&S regulations, Company H&S Standards, and other
requirements affecting the business.Oversee periodic audits and
inspections of operations to assure compliance with company
policies and procedures.Review and develop H&S training content
as needed to ensure effective training of staff at all levels of
the organization that is commensurate with expected competencies
and meets expected regulatory obligations.Act as an agent of
positive change to build an effective H&S culture.Conducts
comprehensive H&S audits of complex facilities.Provides
technical assistance and advice to operations managers and
employees regarding H&S issues.Ensures the communication of
H&S matters to co-workers.Conducts accident/incident
investigations.Works independently under general supervision and
direction. Work is reviewed solely for soundness of judgment and
overall adequacy. Performs work that requires decision-making and
the consistent exercise of independent judgment and
discretion.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years
of experience in an HSE role or a Master's Degree and 1-3 years of
experience in an HSE role. Associates degree from an accredited
community college with 10 years of experience, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.Experience performing
duties within the framework of an ISO / OHSAS certified or other
such HSE management systemExperience with OSHA regulationsPREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in HSE Management System Implementation
and Maintenance.Experience with the development of Dashboards that
represent HSE metrics.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work
independently and multi-task in a fast, priority-switching
environment.Exceptional communication and problem-solving
skills.Strong proficiency in Microsoft-based programs, with
particular emphasis on spreadsheets and graphical representation of
data using Pareto analysis.1-3 years of experience working in a
GMP-regulated environment.SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to
work a schedule that requires flexibility based on business
