The following needs have been identified for this program in the 2021-2022 academic year:

Fall 2021

Co-instruction of:

  • ASGN 221 American Sign Language/English Interpreting I: course meets Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 2:20 PM in a combination of face-to-face and remote instruction.
  • ASGN 313 American Sign Language/English Interpreting III: course is a hybrid of asynchronous instruction plus one class meeting (remote or face-to-face) on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:20 PM.

Spring 2022

  • ASGN 222 American Sign Language/English Interpreting II: course meets Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 2:20 PM in a combination of face-to-face and remote instruction.
  • ASGN 314 American Sign Language/English Interpreting IV: course is a hybrid of asynchronous instruction plus one class meeting (remoter or face-to-face) on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:20 PM.

Times and days of the week for these courses cannot be changed.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Teach course(s) in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, or ASL/English Interpreting
  • Develop syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Assess student performance.
  • Provide assistance and mentorship to students.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Evidence of expertise, scholarly activity, certification, or creative work appropriate to the discipline.
  • Minimum qualifications to instruct ASL III and ASL IV also include:
  • Two years of university-level teaching experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD or other terminal degree in related field.
  • Successful college teaching experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the curriculum and the classroom.
  • Preferred qualifications to instruct ASL III and ASL IV also include:
  • ASLPI 4.0

This posting is for potential part-time, non-benefited, visiting lecturer positions during the 2021-2022 academic year.
