The Chemistry Department at Framingham State University is seeking two full-time temporary faculty members beginning Fall 2021 to teach courses such as: Principles of Chemistry (CHEM 107), Lectures and Labs, and/or Principles of Chemistry and Quantitative Analysis (CHEM 108), Lectures and LabsIntroductory Chemistry, CHEM 103, lecture and labIntroductory Organic and Biochemistry, CHEM 201, lecture and labOther courses as assigned such as Principles of Biochemistry laboratory, CHEM 300L, Biochemistry I laboratory, CHEM 301L, Introduction to Food Science and Technology lecture and/or laboratory, FDSC 161. Full-time temporary faculty members may also: Develop syllabi, lab activities and instructional materials appropriate for non-chemistry majorsDesign syllabi and teaching materials for lecture courses that aim to promote an inclusive learning environment and assess student learning.Assess student performanceProvide assistance and mentorship to studentsWork collaboratively with the other faculty who teach the same courses to ensure consistency across all sections Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in chemistry or a closely related discipline, with expertise in one of the following fields: biochemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry.A Master's Degree in chemistry or a related field and successful college teaching experience may be considered to teach certain courses.A demonstrated commitment to the development of an anti-racist pedagogy.Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research, or service activities that promote the growth of an equitable, diverse, and inclusive academic environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: For general chemistry courses, a strong desire to work with first year students and to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment, teaching experience, and a willingness to mentor students working on undergraduate research projects.For biochemistry and food science courses, a background in biochemistry and food science, and experience developing laboratory activities appropriate for non-chemistry majors. Additional Information: Thesearefull-time, exempt, benefits-eligible positions in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract (http://mscaunion.org/day-and-dgce-contracts/).
