Staples US Retail is assembling an internal creative team of strategic thinkers, collaborators and storytellers to help us continue to share our evolution to Staples Connect and define Staples stores as the working and learning destination for local communities. This nimble, collaboration-oriented team of designers, writers, creators, producers and project managers will work shoulder-to-shoulder with marketers, merchants, strategists, product owners and external creative teams to develop compelling content and build engaging store, digital and marketing experiences for our customers. This role: Agile and adept project management 

Reporting to the Creative Operations Director, the Creative Project Manager (CPM) executes internal digital or print client requests ensuring on-target, on-time, on-budget and on-brand delivery of marketing materials. The CPM must exhibit outstanding project management and client communication skills to achieve the highest possible standards in client service. He/she needs basic knowledge of clients’ business challenges to provide communications solutions and project management execution. The CPM must exhibit advanced understanding in the areas of email, web development, digital advertising, and social media platforms. The CPM must exhibit advanced understanding of Retail Store print needs, as well as print production expertise in offset, digital and display production. The CPM be expected to take an active participation in status meetings to ensure final output is on schedule. In addition, the PM will provide project management follow-through and accurate delivery.   

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Develop and maintain solid client relationships 

  • Encourage a collaborative approach with departmental team members 

  • Educate clients on cost savings and leveraging opportunities aligned with their marketing efforts 

  • Ensure all relevant information, such as creative briefs, marketing plans, specifications, etc., have been provided to the creative team. 

  • Recommend the effective reuse of past materials when appropriate to minimize client costs 

  • Deliver creative material to clients, obtain and ensure feedback is clear for the creative team 

  • Review client change requests and respond with schedule/cost impacts along with alternatives 

  • Manage expectations with clients and departmental teams   

  • Negotiate timelines and budgets and ensure that all deadlines are maintained 

  • Represent the interests of the client in interactions with project teams 

  • Provide final sign-off on projects to ensure compliance with creative brief and project specifications  

  • Leverage knowledge and understanding of graphic design, creative and production to facilitate effective communication between client and departmental teams 


Qualifications

 Skills & Knowledge Requirements 

  • Ad agency project management experience preferably including print, direct marketing campaigns, online, promotions, radio, video, web, digital advertising, social media 

  • Strong understanding of the benefits of the above communication channels with the ability to match the channel with the client’s communication need 

  • Team player with excellent relationship-building skills 

  • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment  

  • Adept at crisis management 

  • Resourceful and solution-oriented 

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills 

  • Excellent creative project management skills, highly organized and able to multitask effectively 

  • Ability to gain client trust and effectively manage client expectations 

  • Strong understanding of the creative process as well as design and print/web production 

  • Successful track record at client service in a marketing or creative environment 

 

Education & Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, advertising or business 

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional-level experience in a project management role either in an external or internal agency
