For over 50 years we've been pushing the limits of what's possible to bring astonishing audio to people in their homes, on the go, in automobiles, and wherever else we can impact people's lives through the power of sound.

Bose relies on exceptional people! Our culture of customer-centricity, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment is what makes Bose a great place to work. We're inventing the future of audio and transforming the company for the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead. If you thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and you have a passion to deliver innovative products and experiences that customers love, then we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do in Corporate Strategy

The Bose Corporate Strategy team works on a diverse range of projects that help determine the future trajectory of the company. You'll be joining a growing team that works with executives and leaders across the company to set strategic priorities, analyze the biggest challenges and opportunities, and inform critical decisions with insightful data-driven recommendations. We help define the areas where the company should compete, create clear strategies, identify capabilities needed to succeed, and drive execution against the long-term vision for Bose. We deliver actionable solutions based on a deep knowledge of the business and external factors.

About the Role

The Corporate Strategy Manager acts as a business partner and advisor to senior leaders and cross-functional teams. You will work on a wide variety of business challenges across the enterprise. You will bring a high level of skill, organizational awareness, and effectiveness to complex problem solving, often in ambiguous situations. To be successful, you'll need to be an independent thinker as well as a strong team player who thrives on tackling difficult problems and who can deliver timely analysis and recommendations.

The successful candidate must have a strong command of the strategy process. In addition to strong technical skills, you'll also need to possess good judgment, intuitive business acumen, and great people skills. You will establish credibility through successful work and partnerships to influence key business decisions.

With the full support of highly collaborative colleagues, you will be expected to scope and lead projects and work directly with leaders and teams across the company, often with little direct supervision. This is a high-visibility role with significant career growth potential for motivated professionals who aspire to gain significant exposure to all aspects of the business. While on-site interaction will be needed to build relationships and for some projects, we are open to a flexible hybrid model or fully remote work with periodic travel for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

As a member of a small team, you will work on diverse assignments and wear many hats! You will be expected to:

  • Lead end-to-end strategy development and execution that may include new initiatives or pivots/adjustments to existing ones based on in-market learnings or new developments
  • Source and assess project requests, gather input from relevant sources and stakeholders, identify the key issues and strategy questions, develop hypotheses, define the work scope and process, gain alignment
  • Conduct rigorous analysis using primary and secondary research, apply critical thinking to synthesize themes, extract key insights that go beyond the obvious, diagnose the problem, and propose the range of available opportunities and solutions - analyze the case and solve the case.
  • Apply applicable strategy frameworks and models to structure and simplify complex and divergent data and to facilitate understanding, trade-off analysis, and decision making
    • Construct and analyze business cases; model alternative scenarios as needed; collaborate closely with Corporate FP&A and business unit/category teams
    • Work closely with cross-functional project teams to develop insightful, practical, and actionable recommendations to inform and influence decision making about important business decisions
    • Create and deliver concise, impactful presentations to stakeholders that are supported by objective data and sound logic and that lead to direct conclusions and recommended action
      • Develop subject matter/domain expertise; over time, become a go-to resource with a deep understanding of Bose's vision, strategies, customers, markets, products, technologies, value drivers, and business operations
      • Establish best practices within the team and mentor others; play a key role in advancing the team's capabilities and learnings through continuous improvement; lead postmortems on important projects
      • Help manage the backlog and prioritize projects in the strategy queue
      • Participate in peer reviews of other projects; contribute thoughtful critique and challenge thinking to strengthen the work and help ensure the team produces unbiased insights and high-quality recommendations
      • Build strong relationships with executives, colleagues, and senior leaders throughout the company; become a trusted advisor and thought partner and a "first call" resource for solving strategic challenges
      • Prepare analyses and written materials for Board meetings and executive updates
      • Help lead and manage the corporate long-range planning process and annual business planning cycle
      • Prepare and lead scenario planning exercises and workshops as needed
      • Monitor and analyze competitors, markets, and technology trends. As needed, conduct in-depth competitive intelligence deep-dives and assess competitors' strategies and anticipated moves; develop and communicate (written and verbally) an "outside in" perspective on evolving market trends and conditions
      • As needed, support the Business Development and M&A teams to identify and analyze potential targets and conduct due diligence

        Qualifications:
        • 10+ years total work experience in a related field and roles, with at least 3-5 years' experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy
        • MBA, plus an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (business, economics, finance, mathematics, or a technical discipline preferred, but we are open to strong candidates with diverse educational backgrounds)
        • Exceptional critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to frame ambiguous problems and apply strategic frameworks to solve them
        • Demonstrated excellence in analytical problem solving, conceptual thinking, logic, and the ability to synthesize large amounts of information to draw insights and conclusions
        • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; data visualization skills are a strong plus
        • Demonstrated ability to scope and successfully lead projects end to end
        • Strong writing abilities and verbal presentation skills; demonstrated ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner; must be comfortable presenting in front of executive audiences and adept at handling tough questions with poise and confidence
        • Demonstrated business acumen with a solid understanding of financial statements and ability to construct and analyze business plans and models
        • Strong interpersonal skills and situational awareness, active listening, and the ability to create influence without authority; must be able to work effectively with diverse teams at all levels
        • Prior experience in leading long-range planning processes is a definite plus
        • Team oriented, an energetic self-starter with a positive attitude and good judgment
        • Must have the confidence to advocate for new ideas or solutions and defend well-reasoned conclusions, while also being genuinely open to alternative viewpoints and critical feedback
        • Strong project management skills with a sense of ownership and accountability
        • A strong interest in consumer electronics, music, audio entertainment, and related technologies. Prior experience and domain knowledge is a strong plus!
