Sr Manager, New Product Program Management - Consumer Electronics Division US, MA - Framingham Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Leader of the New Product Program Management Team. Our Program Managers lead globally distributed, cross functional engineering teams made up of mechanical, electrical, acoustical, manufacturing, validation, plastics, material science and user experience skillsets, as well as a distributed team of resources from our Contract Manufacturers and from the Bose engineering team in Shenzhen, China. PMs also work seamlessly with internal and external software teams to deliver both exceptional products and exceptional experiences- made possible by the union of HW and SW. This leader must be customer-focused and possess a strong whole product and systems-centric mindset. They will be both well-versed in both hardware and software development. They will be accountable for the development and delivery of all products within the Consumer Electronics portfolio to meet performance, cost and schedule commitments. They will be responsible for creating a strong and committed culture of excellence within the PM community. They will leverage their experience and proven track record to drive the creation of standards and use of common planning tools and methodologies that can be leveraged by all product divisions within Bose. Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Consumer Electronic Division's new product development programs on schedule, on budget and at committed performance and feature levels in support of the CED business strategy
  • Develop, build, adapt and champion consistent and effective project and risk management processes, tools, best practices, and norms that guide new product teams and enable them to meet their commitments
  • Work with other functional leaders to create robust hardware and software delivery plans (Schedules, resource plans, tooling and capital expense estimates, identify external dependencies, etc).
  • Collaborate closely with the division's senior management team, the engineering leadership team and partner organizations to manage resource needs, product delivery timelines and on-model financial performance of product development teams.
  • Develop, recruit, and lead a staff of talented and critically-thinking Program Managers: that are both HW and SW fluent; that seek business context; that understand customer value and are passionate about exceeding customer expectations; that can effectively leverage these skills as tenets of their leadership style and decision-making process.
  • Participate as a key member of the Engineering Operations leadership team to develop and continuously improve cross-functional work processes and provide visibility to our performance against stated goals.
  • Leverage learnings from periodic internal and external benchmarking to pursue best in class program management approaches, communications, culture and processes.Requirements:
    • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering; MS or MBA a plus but not essential.
    • 12+ years of experience successfully leading new product development teams to deliver complex HW/SW products from the requirements phase through full NPI.
    • Proven success (with examples) leading globally distributed teams.
    • Demonstrated ability to build a technical organization/team and drive them to excellence.
    • Proven success in working with external partners (Contract Manufacturers as well as technology providers) to collaboratively deliver complex products to market.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Agile, Visual Management, MS Project, Resource Management Tools and other project management enablers
    • Candidate must be results orientated, self-motivated, resilient and able to perform calmly under pressure. Strong written and oral communication skills and confidence in presenting to all levels of leadership also required.
    • Experience in Performance Management, Coaching, Change Management, Supervision, and Organizational Dynamics also a must.
