Senior Business Development & Partnerships Manager, Automotive Division US, MA - Framingham Job DescriptionNeeded: An energetic, technology-loving "partnership person," driving technical collaboration between Bose and other companies in the automotive, technology and music industries to create new business opportunities for us and greater value for our customers.For over 50 years, Bose has developed high-quality audio solutions and new product experiences, combining hardware and software that delight our customers by differentiating in the marketplace. We are a global leader in both consumer and automotive audio.As a member of the Strategy and Category Management Team in the Bose Automotive Division, the Senior Business Development and Partnerships Manager is responsible for working with our product management and engineering teams in identifying, licensing, acquiring, and co-developing technologies with partners outside of Bose to enhance Bose products, create compelling user experiences, and generate new business opportunities. These partners include world-wide Automotive OEMs, Tier-1 Automotive Manufacturers, and both startups and established technology firms.You will research and network with prospective technology partners and advise leaders of both established lines of business and early-stage innovation projects. You will establish relationships with technology partners, negotiate and execute licensing and co-development deals, and manage ongoing relationships.You will develop partnership strategies and align with business leaders and execute on them. You will become the point of contact between Bose and partners in the Automotive, technology and music industries. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues in product marketing, business leaders, advanced planning, and research teams to identify needs and opportunities for outside technologies to enhance Bose product experiences. You will also collaborate with other divisions within Bose (Consumer Electronics, Professional Audio, Health, Global Sales, etc.) to manage cross-divisional strategic partnerships.The Senior Business Development and Partnerships Manager, Automotive Division is a high-energy person that uses superb communications and teamwork skills to work well with technical and non-technical colleagues inside Bose and technical and non-technical contacts at other companies. In the past, you will have had experience in business development, product management, strategy, consulting, corporate development, M&A, engineering, or software development. Ideally, you will have had experience in several of those disciplines. Key to your success is your ability to marry creativity (seeing new questions, and imagining new approaches) with influencing skills (creating alignment at Bose and with other companies). Your best allies will be your established experience in partnerships combined with abundant self-motivation, creativity, networking, strategic thinking, and intellectual curiosity.Senior Business Development Manager Responsibilities:- Synthesize business goals, strategies, and visions into partnership opportunities- Develop partnership strategies and align with business leaders- Scout for and establish relationships with new partners- Align partnership goals and specific projects with external partners and internal stakeholders- Negotiate and execute licensing and co-development contracts- Communicate regularly with current Bose partners and maintain healthy ongoing relationships- Develop close relationships with Bose's business leaders, product management, corporate development, legal and licensing, engineering, advanced development, and research teams to identify needs and opportunities for outside technologies to enhance Bose product experiences- Coordinate partnership activities with colleagues in Sales and Marketing as partnership activities go to marketOther Requirements:
- Affinity for automotive, and audio/video technologies and trends
- "Information junkie" that thrives on being the first to know about new technology
- Background in one or more of automotive, consumer electronics, software technology or related fields (engineering, science, acoustics, video, software, user experience design) is essential
- Highly polished writing ability, very strong presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions
- Strong understanding of motivations and incentives of all parties in negotiations, in order to drive actionable solutions-Demonstrated experience with the process of working with internal business and legal stakeholders to craft licensing, joint development, and collaboration agreements with partner companies- Understanding of the work involved in product planning, HW and SW product development, and launch. Familiarity with this in B2B or automotive markets specifically is a strong plus.
- Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues, senior stakeholders and executives, especially within Marketing, Engineering, Research, and Sales.
- Moderate travel (15-20% of time - mix of US domestic and international) [POST COVID - travel currently suspended]Education and Experience:- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline - engineering, science, or economics
- 8+ years of related experience
