Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within a school environment. This role requires interpreting for students and staff, ensuring effective communication across diverse educational settings. The position involves travel within the area, providing services where needed to facilitate inclusion and accessibility. Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Facilitate communication between hearing-impaired students, teachers, and peers to support learning and participation Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt instructional materials and ensure effective communication strategies Travel to multiple school sites as assigned to provide interpreting services Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all interactions Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills in educational settings Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within schools Understanding of educational terminology and classroom environments Ability to travel regularly to various school locations Strong communication skills and professionalism in all interactions Location: South Burlington, VT (with travel to surrounding school sites as required) Benefits: Engage in meaningful work supporting students' educational access and inclusion Gain diverse experience interpreting in dynamic school environments Opportunity to collaborate with educators and specialists committed to student success Interested candidates with the necessary skills in sign language interpretation and a passion for education are encouraged to apply for this rewarding position.
