Our Residential Services program operates six homes in Newton and Brookline where our team provides the individuals in these homes with a safe and comfortable environment. Job Description Job Title: Senior Accountant Department: Administration Department Responsible To: CFO Summary Description: In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Payroll, Accounts Payable and account reconciliations, playing a major role in the month-end process. This role will assist with other activities to support the growth of our programs including financial analysis, audit, and other responsibilities as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare account reconciliations, and assist with financial projections Support the finance department with the implementation and improvement of finance-related software systems Work closely with our controller and auditors during annual financial audit and other audits Process payroll and act as oversight for payroll processing and personnel reporting through ADP Workforce Now Work with staff accountant on tasks related to payroll, A/R, vendor relations, and departmental reporting Prepare check runs Review all the payables for processing and maintain accurate vendor records Oversee vendor contracting processes and ensure vendor contracts, W-9s and COIs are kept up to date Assist with state contract billing on a monthly basis Oversee monthly reconciliation of departmental records, acting as partner to other departments with a goal of optimal efficiency and timely reporting Identify and communicate opportunities for changes to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to streamline operations Provide support to the finance team to ensure successful transfer of knowledge for critical processes, procedures, and tools. Maintain written policies and procedures for all job-related activities, keeping them up to date as they change Monitor purchasing for compliance and quality as completed by Receptionist Required Qualifications and Proven Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably some in a non-profit setting Service-oriented team player with a professional demeanor Demonstrated effectiveness in staff development and team building, able to manage through influence and collaboration Strong written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of the following software is desirable: QuickBooks, ADP WorkForce Now and Mineral Tree Proficiency with the Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Physical Requirements: Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, photocopier/scanner and phone/cell phone Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, vendors and clients regarding accounting processes/procedures.
